I´m Camila, the woman behind Ila Ceramica. I started Ila 3 years ago, after 5 years of being close to clay. Through pottery, I guided my way back to creativity and inspiration, which I had blocked after personal experiences that took me deep within myself. The cyclical nature of the wheel and the repetitive motions of throwing quieted my mind and allowed me to seek deep into the process of centering, which worked from the outside in to center my whole being. After a few years of throwing, I began to experiment with coil building and truly found myself. Through sculpting, I began to explore inner landscapes, reflect on nature, express bodily experiences and emulate corporeal silhouettes.
For now, Ila Ceramica is the vessel which contains all of these processes, inner and outer, tangible and intangible. Today, we are a team of three women, and I could not be more thankful for being supported and accompanied by these amazing women that have made Ila an ever-growing, ever-evolving project.
